The Temple of Isis was built in the Ptolemaic period (332-330 BC), and was the foremost sanctity of the popular cult of Isis and Osiris, a cult that was a strong contender to early Christianity. The Philae is now presented with a sound and light show, which offers presentations in 6 different languages and lasts 1 hour, and includes a tour through the ruins.

Elephantine was in Ancient Egypt called Yebu or Abu. This historic wealth of Elephantine is largely connected to ivory trade and the quarrying of granite nearby.

Up in the mountain side of Aswan was one of the obelisk quarries, and here lies a piece that never was finished. A flaw in the rock was found half way into the process, finished, it would have become the single heaviest piece of stone ever fashioned, weighing 1168 tons and 42 metres high. Ordered for one of Tuthmosis 3's additions to the temple complex at Karnak.

The High Dam is over 11,000 feet long, approximately 3200 feet thick its base and towers 364 feet in the air, and provides irrigation and electricity for all of Egypt. It is said that it contains about 18 times the amount of material as was used in the Great Pyramid of Cheops. Also, the world's largest man-made resevoir, Lake Nassar, was created at the same time.
